To order any of Mikel's albums click here. We have changed our pricing due the rise in postal rates here in Canada and in brackets we have the US price for the orders from international visitors, it seems getting Canadian funds is a hassle out there, we understand completely! December 29th,2007 - Well, we hope your Christmas was good, we were quiet...sorta. We plan on going to a bonfire/dance in a field for New Years, should be fun. I am glad this year is over, its bin a rough one to endure at times. Hack's son Ben is planning (with Shirley Gibson) a big benefit/celebration/concert in memory of his dad sometime in late Feb early March, we plan on being there, gotta dig up the funds from somewhere! I'm hoping 08 is a better year, hell it can't get much worse...is it just me, or has this decade really sucked in general! Here's hoping your new year is a good one, stay well - Miller November 25th, 2007 - It is with a very sad heart that I must say this, my very good friend/co-hort/trouble-maker and one of the finest songwriters I have ever had the pleasure to know, write songs with and in general, have fun with .... passed away today - Norm Hacking For over 25 years Hack & I wreaked havoc on Canada. I have recorded over 7 of Norm's tunes and will keep recording them, if I ever record again. Words fail me at this time, I just know that this year has sucked majorly, first Robbie in August, now Hack. When in Toronto in October, we shared laughs & alcohol twice. We both knew his time was short and we talked as hearts only can when they were as close as ours. It is my pleasure to call him "FRIEND" in every way, shape and form. My heart goes to his son Ben, who is the best November 6, 2007 - Miller has returned from the road trip, just over 15,000kms on this trip. He says he got some golfing in while in Ontario, the warm weather held. Looking back at this summer, it started out dry, then turned wet/cold in June and stayed that way. He went through a snow storm on the way down, had his car vandalized in Saskatchewan and drove back up through another storm.... some things never change. Miller reconnected with guitarist Kevin Bell, spent time with Hack, visited some family, his & Amy's. Time to start planning things for next year, Mexico in January, who knows what's in store, so, check back again. Miller says he's going to change the site.... hang in there! September 15th 2007- Miller is preparing for a trip from here (whitehorse) down to Toronto, over to London, Ontario, then back out to the prairies, visiting friends along the way, playing a little golf if time allows, basically he's going to relax a little if he can and try to find his sense of humour again, after Robbie's passing, there have been moments of laughter but time on the road is what's needed most besides playing again, he says he might even try writing... go figure that one!! If you catch him, he's got a great story about Robbie & him doing nothing but ending up having fun just a week before we lost Robbie, when those two were in the same room things just seemed to get out of control, they never planned any of the things that they got into, things just happened! Was best sometimes just to keep them apart, people were safer that way..... He will be missed. We know some of the picture stuff isn't working properly, miller says he'll get to it when he returns, so, please hang in there. August 25th 2007 - Our friend and poet Robbie Benoit passed away August 24th. Miller is quiet these days but is starting to gear up for a tour starting September 26th, I think he needs highway time. Summer is definitely over. June 24th 2007, We are starting to gear up for Mikel's tour that seems to be starting in September, plans are in the works to go OCFF in London, then to WCMA in Moose Jaw with stops and starts in between. Our friend Robbie is doing the best, his sense of humour has not departed but we feel the task of doing a recording at this time is put on a holding pattern. May 28th 2007 - Things here are quiet, we need rain...badly! According to Miller, golfing sucks this year, the courses are in really rough shape without water. Our favourite watering hole, The Taku, is closing at the end of August (Miller has been a regular there since 1979), to make room for a sports store, the boys figure they'll just stay home now, the times they are sure a-changin'. Miller just played Whitehorse and Haines Junction, a good time was had, we're making plans to go to Mexico again this winter. The tour is still taking shape, we'll keep you posted where he'll be heading this fall. Our friend Robbie has taken a turn for the worse, Teddy threw his hip out...again, botox treatment coming! Amy's garden is slow this year, some warm weather would be good....rain would be better! May 11th 2007 - We seem to be having problems with Robbie's stuff, Miller will work on that soon. he has a few gigs coming up, a concert here in Whitehorse May 25th, then it's up to Haines Junction that same day to the Village Bakery to play for Boyd & Liz and their fine place, busy day. On the 31st, he's at the Guild Hall for a solo concert featuring all new material, sort of a preview of the new album he's thinking of doing. In June, he's going to try to get Robbie moving on his project, it's a day to day at this time, but, if you know Robbie like we do, you know he'll be there, smiling! Golf season has started, but it's slow, still getting to -5 at nights which is weird for this time of year. April 28th 2007 - Well, the site was down for about 5 weeks, we're still trying to move to a .ca address. Miller is busy cleaning up the yard, the snow has finally decided to go somewhere else. There are new things to look at on the page, we're going to try for some video to be added to the site and the project Mikel started last year has come to standstill. Robbie has finished his chemo crap and whiskers are starting to come back, he's excited, he & Miller are going through his poetry trying to find some great one's, Robbie would like to do some Robert Service stuff, Mikel says only if it's shit that hasn't been done before....producers think they know everything! Mikel will be performing with Bruce in the Junction May 25th, time to get out of dodge for a day. April 21st,2007 - Well, the benefit for Robbie was great, we raised some funds to help our friend out, now it's time to get him into the studio to do another album. On another note, not quite as sweet, long time Yukon music store's "Rose Music and Steve's Music" run by Steve Gedrose and Steve Hare are shutting down. Whitehorse no longer has an eclectic cd store or a store to buy the strings that Miller likes to use, the north is certainly changing....but not for the better, we feel. Spring is too slow in coming, Miller feels it's at least a month before golfing will commence, it's making the boys irritable to say the least. February 24, 2007 - We have arranged to move the site to www.mikelmiller.ca at the end of march, you will be re-directed from the old address to the new one. It's been -30 for a month now, the wood pile has taken a huge hit and the winter games have started here in Whitehorse, which means that there are over 20,000 extra people in town. Miller is housesitting the dogs and refuses to go to town unless he has to. The bash for Robbie is gearing up, we will post the performers etc near the party date of March 30th. February 16, 2007 - We are moving the site to another locale, this site will probably disappear the beginning of March 2007. We haven't finalized everything yet, but what you will have to do is google search the new site, as mentioned, we are trying to get www.mikelmiller.ca , so, hopefully when you try to search the site that address will work. Thanks for supporting this site and we hope to hear from you at the new address when it happens. Mikel & Amy February 10, 2007 - We have a "NEW" E-mail address, check the Contact page, by the end of March, we should be located at www.mikelmiller.ca , this is still being done, we will let you know when complete. Things for the Robbie benefit are still progressing along, we'll try to keep you up to date there too!. January 22nd,2007 - We must have been sleeping, there seems to have been a "postal hike", please check the order page for "NEW" shipping costs, this seems to never end, it's almost too much to ask people to endure. We are set! The Robbie Benoit "To Hell With Cancer Part Deux" will be held march 30th at the Westmark here in Whitehorse. People lined up are Miller, BJ Maclean, Barbara Chamberlin, Suzy Ross, Rick Sward and others are lining up, donations from Yukon artist Jim Robb and others are floating in, stay tuned for more. January 6, 2007 - Welcome to a new year!! We were hoping for a better one, but sad news, our friend and Miller's "in-trouble partner" Robbie Benoit has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, there will be a benefit at the end of march, stay tuned for the line-up, Miller is busy organizing this event. Mikel is hoping to get Robbie into the studio to do an album and there are plans to publish a book of Robbie's poetry. Miller is planning to tour this fall, do WCMA in Moose Jaw in October, go to Ontario to finish his album and work with Alan Black to add stuff to the documentary Beautiful & Deranged, things like a blooper reel, extended scenes and deleted stuff, this looking like a busy year! Miller will be adding photo's from mexico soon, fixing the daughter/grandkid page and stuff like that.... never dull!!!
we have an archive page which has dated stuff on it, if you want to read old news click here |
